The union has received a notice sent to Montgomery County employees about the discontinuation of the multilingual differential for certain employees. Please be advised that the union has filed a grievance on behalf of all affected members regarding this matter.
The County’s communication claimed that this issue is “non-grievable.” However, the union strongly believes that, under Article 5, “Wages, Salary, and Employee Compensation,” and specifically Section 5.4, “Multilingual Differential,” of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, this matter is indeed grievable.
In addition, to ensure that this issue is addressed fully, the union will also be filing an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charge against Montgomery County for failure to bargain.
