UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO is teaming up with Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services to raise funds for the March of Dimes and their fight to protect and promote maternal and infant health.
MCGEO Welcomes Back Crossing Guards
MCGEO kicked off the school year by reconnecting with Crossing Guard members at back-to-school meetings across the county. From Rockville and Bethesda to Silver Spring, Wheaton, Germantown, and Gaithersburg, we met with members in every district to gear up for the year ahead.

Deputies and Staff Vote “No Confidence” in Sheriff Uy
Last week, deputies and civilian staff in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, represented by UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO, issued a historic vote of no confidence in Sheriff Maxwell Uy’s leadership. Union leaders from around the state joined the announcement, including Lee Holland, president of FOP Lodge 35 representing Montgomery County Police, and Donna Edwards, president of the Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO.
The overwhelming vote comes after the union tried to address the issues of mismanagement, toxic workplace culture, and retaliation against employees who raised concerns. Members made it clear: they deserve better leadership that prioritizes safety, accountability, and respect in the workplace.
Local 1994 President Gino Renne called on Sheriff Uy to step aside, saying the crisis of leadership cannot continue at the Sheriff’s Office.
The vote drew significant attention from local and regional media, putting a spotlight on members’ courage in speaking out:

Bus drivers and aides in Anne Arundel County, represented by UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO, have reached a tentative agreement that delivers substantial wage and benefit enhancements, as well as a path to affordable healthcare — averting a strike and winning respect on the job.
Next step: ratification vote on Sept. 25.
