How Unions Impact Wages

The power of workers negotiating as a group for better wages.

You deserve more. We believe you’ve earned and deserve better pay at work and UFCW members see and feel the difference in their paychecks every day. By coming together in a union, we raise wages for every worker in a store, factory or shop. We also make sure you keep more of what you earn by keeping bad company practices like wage theft at bay.

You deserve wages that give you financial stability, let you support a family, and build a better life. With a union, that is possible.

We know that wages aren’t where they need to be for workers across America. If wages rose with productivity for American workers, workers would have gotten a more than sixty percent raise. Instead, they rose less than ten percent. American workers have earned and deserve better.

That’s why we fight for higher wages every day. That means organizing more workers to join the union so we have more power at the bargaining table. It means working to elect politicians who will raise wages legislatively and make it easier to organize. And it means supporting legislation that will raise the wage floor for all workers in our community. But none of it is possible without workers like you and your voice as part of our union.
