UFCW 1994 added a college benefit this fall. Here are answers to the questions members ask most.
What is the Union College Benefit?
Get discounted tuition — up to 40% off — on more than 200 online programs at accredited schools. Areas of study include Business Administration, Psychology, Human Services, and Criminal Justice. The benefit is powered by Edvance, the education benefit company UFCW 1994 partnered with to make this opportunity available to members.
Who is eligible?
You and your family! Eligible family members include your spouse, children, grandchildren, and dependents. Already have college credits? Edvance schools accept transfer credits, so you may be able to continue your education without starting over.
How can I lower my costs even more? Can I use financial aid?
If you work for Montgomery County Government, you may be able to combine this discount with your union-negotiated Tuition Assistance Program. Check with County HR to confirm your eligibility.
All members can also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to find out whether they qualify for financial assistance, such as a Pell Grant. Eligible aid may be used alongside the benefit’s tuition discount.
How do I get started?
Take the first step! A dedicated Student Success Coordinator can help you explore programs, find the right fit, and understand your next steps. There’s no cost and no commitment. Explore your options before enrolling anywhere else.
Explore your options and see where your education can take you.
