📚 PGCMLS Members Vote on Tentative Agreement Next Week

After months of determined bargaining, member activism, and solidarity, the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System bargaining unit is one step closer to securing a new contract. The tentative agreement comes after members stood together throughout a difficult bargaining process that required persistence and collective action to move negotiations forward.

Eligible, dues-paying members will able to vote on ratification next week. Voting will be conducted electronically via OPAvote. There will also be in-person voting. Look for more details in your email next week.

📖 Charles County Library Negotiations Head to Mediation

Negotiations between UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO and the Charles County Public Library have reached an impasse, and the parties will soon begin mediation.

While significant progress has been made, important issues remain unresolved. Mediation allows both parties to continue working toward a fair agreement with the assistance of a neutral mediator.

Our bargaining team remains committed to achieving a contract that respects library employees and reflects the essential services they provide to the community. Member solidarity will continue to be critical throughout this next phase of negotiations.

🏆 Congratulations to John Barry – Region 2 Representative of the Year

UFCW Local 1994 proudly congratulates John Barry on being recognized as the Region 2 Representative of the Year.

John was recognized thanks to his record of organizing new bargaining units, negotiating first contracts, and helping workers gain a voice on the job through collective bargaining.

Beyond the bargaining table, John has done strong work advancing legislation at the county and municipal levels that expands collective bargaining rights for public employees who previously had none. His work has helped open the door for workers to organize and negotiate for better wages, benefits, and working conditions in Maryland counties, cities and towns.
