MCGEO Family Member Awarded Union Plus Scholarship
Congratulations to Hadley Olivia Mongan of Derwood,
Maryland, who has been awarded a
$2,500 Union Plus Scholarship.
Hadley is the daughter of member
Yolanda Mongan, who works for
Montgomery County Public Libraries.
The Union Plus Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding students
from union families who have demonstrated academic achievement,
leadership, community involvement, and a strong commitment to the
values of working families.
This year’s scholarship recipients represent a diverse group of
hardworking students from union households across the country.
Applications were evaluated by representatives from the American
Association of Community Colleges, the American Association of State
Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Independent
Colleges and Universities, and the United Negro College Fund.
Judges noted that this year’s applicants made the selection process
especially challenging due to their exceptional academic performance,
extracurricular involvement, and dedication to the principles of
union solidarity and service.
