MCGEO’s endorsed candidates posted a strong performance in Maryland’s Primary Election, with approximately 85% of the union’s endorsed candidates advancing to the November General Election.

These results reflect the strength of our political program and the commitment of MCGEO members who volunteered, knocked on doors, made phone calls, contributed to campaigns, and cast their ballots in support of candidates who stand with working families.

Among the biggest victories were the successful primary campaign of Will Milam for Montgomery County Sheriff and the results in the Montgomery County Council races, where all but one of MCGEO’s endorsed candidates won their primary election.

MCGEO also celebrated victories in statewide and federal races, including Attorney General Anthony G. Brown, Comptroller Brooke Elizabeth Lierman, and Congressional Candidates Sarah Elfreth (CD3), Glenn Ivey (CD4), April McClain Delaney (CD6), and Jamie Raskin (CD 8), all of whom earned MCGEO’s endorsement and will appear on the November ballot.

The union also saw strong results across the Maryland General Assembly, where dozens of MCGEO-endorsed candidates for the House of Delegates and State Senate secured their nominations and will move on to the General Election.

While not every endorsed candidate advanced beyond the primary, MCGEO is grateful to every candidate who stepped forward to run and to every member who dedicated their time and energy to supporting labor-endorsed campaigns.

The focus now shifts to the November General Election, where the stakes remain high for collective bargaining rights, retirement security, quality public services, and policies that support working families. MCGEO will continue working alongside our labor partners to elect candidates who share our values and will fight for public employees.
