Member Maria Estrada changed the work environment in the Office of Eligibility and Support Services. Management has been ordered to undergo sensitivity training with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) thanks to Estrada’s complaint about inappropriate communication coming from one of her managers.

Department of Liquor Control Employees also complained to the union about mistreatment at the DLC. DLC Director Dorfman and President Renne mutually agreed to joint labor-management training from FMCS to foster more collaboration between the membership, management, and the union.

“We want management in our represented workplaces to understand that they can’t take unilateral and inappropriate approaches to supervision,” said Local 1994 President Gino Renne. “We want a collaborative environment where our shared concerns are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner. We’re encouraging a partnership environment where employees are treated fairly and with dignity.”

Employees who feel they’ve been mistreated or bullied by management are encouraged to contact the union.
