Last week, the County Council voted not to fund our negotiated agreement as it was presented and sent us back to the table with County Executive Elrich to come up with a new agreement. We have reached a compromise agreement with the County Executive.
We tried to keep as much of the original package intact as possible and we will send you the highlights shortly.
County Executive Elrich came out swinging [at the council] for their disrespect (see Elrich Blasts Council Over Rejection of 9% Raises for Some Union Workers), calling their characterization of our original agreement as unsustainable “hyperbolic and fundamentally untrue.” Top officials from his administration are working hard to secure the funding of our revised agreement.
We need you to stay active!
We will need you to continue fighting for our contract. Contact your councilmembers asking them to fund the compromise agreement, and tell your friends, family and neighbors to do the same. Please send a copy to the union offices (info@mcgeo.org).
