Local 1994 welcomed two new field representatives and a new organizer over the summer, Frank Santos Fritz, John Barry, and Rosa Ortiz.
Fritz is a field representative and organizer for Local 1994 from a proud union family in New Jersey. He was the field director for Marc Elrich’s successful primary campaign for Montgomery County Executive, and previously worked as a research intern for Unite Here Local 23 in Washington, DC. He attended the George Washington University where he studied history, with a minor in sustainability.
John Barry is a field representative/organizer. As a Baltimore teacher, Barry helped organize the Maryland Institute College of Art Part Time Faculty Union. He has also organized full time and part time faculty with SEIU International and SEIU Local 500.
Rosa Ortiz is an organizer who joined Local 1994 from Certified Building Services. She was terminated from CBS because of her union activity and leadership whenshe and her coworkers at CBS sought to organize. Since then, Ortiz has been a part of five of Local 1994’s successful organizing campaigns. She was born in Puerto Rico.
