What is a Union?
UFCW Local 1994 (MCGEO) is a 9,000 member labor union
committed to advancing the economic interests of our
members, their families and the communities we serve through
the collective bargaining, legislative, political, and organizing
processes.
Mission Statement:
To add value to the work experience while building a stronger,
more vibrant community. We pursue policies and objectives to
sustain and protect an effective infrastructure of public services
which improve and enrich the quality of life for all.
Who are we?
In addition to representing our members, we engage in legislative
and political action and cooperate with other labor and civic
organizations, as well as civil rights groups to advance the overall
welfare of our communities, region and state.
What do we do?
Through our advocacy and engagement over the years, we’ve
secured:
Sustained/Increased funding for PGCMLS.
Strengthened our relationship with the County Council
Cultivated relationships with community organizations

Our Impact
Through our advocacy and engagement over the years, we’ve
secured:
A voting labor seat on the Prince George’s County Blue Ribbon
Commission to review the Prince George’s County structural
deficit.
Reduced furloughs for PGCMLS employees during economic
downturn when other Prince George’s County Departments
received rifs and furloughs*
An increase in Prince George’s County’s minimum wage for low
wage workers.

Library and the establishment of a healthier and more productive workplace.

dialogue over issues of concern to both parties. The key goals of this partnership
are the delivery of quality public service to the citizens and employees of the
Library, along with enhanced employee compensation, job security and a
