A pension shift would cost Montgomery County $47 million in FY13 and is expected to total $351 million in the first five years.
Shifting the pension liability to Montgomery County would be devastating to county workers. It will mean cuts in our workforce and the critical services that we provide.
It is the state that controls the pension and determines pension benefits. It is the state that underfunded the pension and now they want the counties to pay the bill!
