Dernoga pointed to the strong library system in Prince George's County, whose library employees are represented by Local 1994, as evidence that an organized library system can work. He noted especially, the work that Local 1994 has done gaining more funding from the PG County Council for more staff and for security at the varying branches.

"Your union's successful efforts in securing Deputy Sheriff coverage in six county libraries to assist with security has made a world of difference in the quality of the library experience for our patrons as well as our employees," Dernoga wrote.
